Vincent Dance Theatre is looking for a YOUNG PERFORMER (of any gender) age 11 – 16yrs to join our company. They will devise a new production, HOLD TIGHT, from September – October in Brighton,  and tour the production to 7 venues across the UK in November and then film the work in December 2022 back in Brighton/ Sussex.
This is a PAID opportunity for young performers. VDT will arrange necessary absences from school / college, provide Child Performance licences, organise chaperone or parental / guardian support and provide tutors on tour when necessary. VDT also provide all travel and accommodation for selected performers and their parent or guardian.
Home is where our story begins. It’s not always a place – it’s a condition, a feeling, a sense of connection. It forms who you are and how you move through the world. Our recent, collective experience of separation has changed our perception of what feels safe and what ‘home’ means forever. During the pandemic, family relationships have been heightened, some ruptured, some repaired.
Hold Tight includes testimonies from young people who live in care and those who have been previously looked after, gathered through VDT’s social engagement and research programme, embedding their stories within VDT’s wider exploration of what home, family and belonging means to us now.
We welcome applications from young people with little or no previous experience of dance or performance, as well as those who already love to dance and perform. We are interested in young spoken word poets and MCs too. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse young people. We would also love to hear from those in care or previously looked after.
