Public Art Commission for the Victoria Road Housing Artistic Intervention
Brighton & Hove City Council is commissioning a permanent public artwork as part of the Victoria Road Housing Scheme in Portslade for the benefit of residents and users of the associated adjacent Portslade Town Hall.
Brighton & Hove City Council is delighted to announce an open call for an artist for this development. This will be a permanent commission and the panel is open to proposals in any medium but is looking for an innovative solution which will augment the landscaping or public realm with a creative artistic input which responds to the curatorial concept. The landscape design is fixed, so this is an opportunity to add to it, but there is no prescribed approach or outcomes with the exception that water features are not possible. The successful artist will be required to manage the design, fabrication, and installation of the artwork.
Please send the following to firstname.lastname@example.org by 12.00pm midday on Monday 7 February 2022:

• A CV (no more than 2 sides of A4)
• A maximum of 6 images compiled in a single PDF (max file size 5mb)
Following the open call, a shortlist of three artists will be sent a more detailed brief and
invited to outline their approach and present this to a selection panel.
A proposal fee of £500 will be provided. The selection panel will take place mid-March 2022.
