Alongside workspace, artists will receive support to develop projects, explore funding opportunities and respond to commissions. We will host regular crits and opportunities for peer learning and mini exhibitions.
Having identified a lack of affordable workspaces and access to development support for those looking to navigate the opaque and often precarious landscape of freelance creative work, we are looking to provide subsidised opportunities for those who might not otherwise have access.
With the support of the Werks Group, we can offer five workspaces to individuals at an affordable price of £100 per month, for this first pilot programme.
This includes:
- 90x60cm desk + storage space
- Wifi, electricity and heating
- Shared kitchen facility
- Regular mentoring and networking sessions
- Optional off-site workshop access (Build Brighton – additional cost)
Suitable Applicants
We are looking for individuals who have recently graduated or can demonstrate a non-institutional equivalent. We are open to creatives from all disciplines across the expanded field of visual art & design.
This opportunity would be most suited to those who have a practice in which you create work with and for people – or you are interested in doing so. The suitable applicants will be interested in working alongside other artists and peers in a new and expanding creative community environment.
Unfortunately, at present, we are unable to accept applications from artists that require studio space to make large scale work, or artists that use solvents and oil based materials.
How to Apply
Please submit a short proposal (max. 500 words) outlining:
- Your artistic practice and interests
- Please include links to your online portfolio
- Your ambition for your practice, how that might align with Peer Space and why this opportunity will make a difference to your development.
Alternatively you may submit an audio/video application (max 3 mins).
Please send you application with ‘Navigate’ in the subject line to:
patricia@samwilliams.uk
If you would like an informal chat about the programme or if you need support with your application please get in touch. We are interested in getting to know you so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
