Sussex Dance Network are looking for workshop participants to develop a series of Alternative Tours of Brighton & Hove, as part of the ABCD Cultural Recovery Plan. There will be four tours, each with a different opportunity to share an experience of Brighton!

Free Your Map 

Free Your Map is a new visual tour of Brighton & Hove exploring the city through the eyes and art of people who use wheelchairs. Discover hidden spaces, hear artists’ stories, and discuss what makes Brighton and Hove both architecturally rich and occasionally challenging. 

Sussex Dance Network are looking for wheelchair-using artists’ to create a collaborative piece of large scale artwork using the Enayball tool, which will be exhibited in March 2022 as part of the tour. 

You’ll be invited to take part in a 2 hour workshop that will take place on Wednesday 2nd February at Fabrica Gallery, led by Ram Samocha from Draw to Perform. If you’re interested or have any questions please email Lisa (producer) on [email protected] 

Through The Senses

Through the Senses is a new sensory walking tour of Brighton, made by and for people across the visually impaired community .The project will explore smell, touch and hearing as a means to navigate, understand, be excited and enraptured by the city.

Sussex Dance Network are seeking volunteers that identify as visually impaired to collaborate with us on this project. You will be invited to attend a short one-to-one session followed by a day-long group workshop at Possability Place on Thursday 17th February, led by visually impaired performance artist Ebony Rose Dark. The tour will take place in March 2022.

Voices of Motherhood

Voices of Motherhood is a new tour of verbatim performances around Brighton telling diverse and marginalised stories of motherhood – through the words and voices of those who have lived them.

Sussex Dance Network are looking for voluntary participants who have a story to tell, and would like to take part in both the creation and delivery of the tour. You will be invited to one full day workshop led by verbatim theatre-maker Angela El-Zeind, who will guide you through the art of storytelling to create a series of short monologue performances. The first workshop will be on Sunday 30th January at Exeter Street Hall, with further dates following in February. The tour will take place in March 2022.
