WHAT IS DOING DRAMATURGY?
This online intensive professional development course, with limited places for mid-career choreographers and performance makers, draws on Lou Cope’s 2 decade career of working as a dramaturg with world class choreographers and theatre makers.
HOW DOES THE COURSE WORK?
The course is virtual, led over Zoom, to slot into the busy lives of choreographers and makers, to accompany and support them in their practice.
Working through a variety of dynamic and engaging sessions, participants will work with Lou and each other to:
deepen their practice and mission
practise the craft and act of dramaturgy
examine their making strategies
explore structure, composition, form, content and context
share experience, questions and challenges
build relationships with each other
WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
1 to 1 bespoke and personal initial session with Lou
6 days of online course
Direct content delivery from Lou
Focussed sessions tailored and adapted to group needs and objectives
A wide range of exercises and tasks, including some between sessions
Collaboration and discussion with other choreographers and makers in pairs and groups
The opportunity to explore dramaturgy by acting as a dramaturg for other participants
Solo work with group reflections
1 to 1 debrief with Lou
WHO IS IT FOR?
Choreographers and makers who want to engage in professional personal development, refresh or clarify their practice, get external input on their making strategies, and develop their relationship with dramaturgical thinking and dramaturgy.

12/13/14 Feb Initial 1:1 90 min session
27 & 28 Feb 10 – 4pm
3 & 4 April 10 – 4pm
1 & 2 May 10 – 4pm
6/7/8 May 1:1 Debrief 90 min session
HOW MUCH?
Course fees are £1200 (inc VAT) per participant
Early Bird fees are £1000 (inc VAT) if you book before Thursday 31 October 2024 (early bird tickets are limited, there are 3 available which will be offered to those suitable, who apply first)

FUNDING YOUR PLACE
There are various ways you can apply for financial support towards your place.

PAYMENT
We ask for a non-refundable deposit of 20% (£200 for an early bird ticket / £240 for a full price) to secure your place on the course and full payment to be made by Monday 06 January 2025.
