Immersive Discovery Days for Creatives and Artists at The FuseBox

They want to introduce creatives and artists from Brighton & Hove to the possibilities of
immersive technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, for their creative practice.

Based in Brighton, innovation hub The FuseBox has been bringing together creatives
and technologists since 2013, inspired by the Brighton Fuse research project. The report
demonstrated how the fusion of creative practice and technology is central to
innovation.

Next month sees the launch of their free Immersive Discovery Days for creatives and
artists in Brighton & Hove as part of the ABCD Cultural Recovery Plan.
They want to introduce creatives and artists from Brighton & Hove to the possibilities of
immersive technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, for their creative practice.
There’s so much potential – from virtual exhibition spaces and galleries to digital tools that
create immersive experiences or productions.

The sessions will offer a beginner-friendly introduction to technology – if you’re intimidated,
don’t be! They’ll take you through a brief history of immersive tech, with recent
advancements and potential applications, hands-on demos and lots of time to experiment,
ask questions and explore. Get inspired by examples of what other creatives and artists
have achieved with immersive technology – with incredible 3D art masterpieces and
award-winning experiences.

At The FuseBox, residents collaborate and support each other with the idea that
knowledge and techniques from the arts, humanities and design mesh with new
technologies. The space is home to a buzzing community of creative residents with a host of
experience. Long-time FuseBox resident and digital artist Maf’j Alvarez recently exhibited
her ‘ Eva Quantica ’ immersive virtual reality dance piece at Brighton Festival to rave reviews.
Residents Annis Joplin and Sarah Cole also took part in the last Third Thursdays ,
showcasing their innovative 360 film ‘STUCK’, projecting it high above the busy street of
Kensington Gardens.
